The Original Chair Company is located in Perth, Scotland . The company specialises in new build, quality seated furniture based mainly on classic styles. In addition we carry a range of antique chairs and sofas for refurbishment and re-upholstery.
Our new footstool range, available on our newly expanded website or simply by clicking here offers a range of footstools from classic to contemporary, and from large square stools which double up as coffee tables, through circular footstools to trendy fenders with fashionable legs. Our clients can choose from a broad range of legs with or without brass castors and turned or square. We also have a very large range of quality fabrics to choose from. The choice is yours. We offer a service second to none and take pleasure in providing excellence wherever possible.
We also create bespoke furniture; choose from our custom made furniture or let us design it for you. Choose a style of easy chair and have it built with hardwood frames, dowelled, screwed and glued. We are developing a range of chaise longues in classic designs. In 2011 we introduced Lloyd Loom chairs to our range.
We carry out supply and repair work for small, national as well as international boutique hotel chains, including supplying and repairing their Victorian chesterfield sofas, Ercol sofas, Chaise longues, Bergere sofas, button back sofas, Knowle sofas, leather sofas, and all types of Victorian and Georgian sofas . Our upholsterers restore upholstered chairs to a high standard and we sell a broad range of chairs with which we offer an upholstery service, including wing chairs (wing back), tub chairs and so on. To complete our service let us find you the perfect dining chair. We source oak Victorian dining chairs as well as mahogany dining tables and oak dining tables, professionally refurbished and delivered anywhere in the UK.
Since 2006 we have sold hundreds of antique armchairs and sofas in a variety of styles. From our base in the countryside of Perthshire our upholsterers are expert in taking old pieces of antique furniture and giving them new life, creating a family heirloom which can be passed down through the generations. Using horse hair for Georgian furniture and Victorian antiques alike, the original frames, stripped back to the bare wood, are re-built using period materials. The show wood – visible wood on trims, chair arms, sofa backs or turned or bun legs – can be French Polished to bring out their natural beauty. If the pieces are button backed, buttons are re-sown to make as new before the fabric is fitted on to the piece of furniture, packed with the original horse hair wherever possible.
Seats are repaired with new spring sets where appropriate. We do not use webbing to repair chairs as this is not the best method to replicate antique styles.
Customers choose their fabric from our broad selection of fabric suppliers including Harlequin, Designer's Guild, Ian Sanderson, Moon, Voyage, Linwood or Anta – or they supply their own – and the antique pieces are finally covered in the fabric, finished with trim, piping, studs or braid, before being wrapped and prepared for delivery to you.
